Museums, exhibitions, gardens, and cultural spaces are places where we go to wonder, to walk, and to connect with the stories they have to share.

Stories that open our mind and imagination, allowing us to live, or relive, emotions and moments shaped by art and culture.

But what happens when that experience is constantly interrupted by technology?

When Rembrandt’s painting technique in The Night Watch competes with a smartphone app. When a voice narrating the history of Napoleon’s war in Belgium is suddenly interrupted by a call or a notification?

As a tech company, we believe in technology responsibly. We believe technology can help museums and cultural spaces enhance their venues and exhibitions without placing artworks in competition with screens.

While solutions like QR codes or bring-your-own-device experiences may offer economic or operational benefits, we must ask: on a larger scale, why promote digital distraction in places meant for presence and reflection?

Why encourage children and teenagers to turn to their smartphones when they are there to learn, to imagine, and to discover new layers of meaning that will shape their understanding of the world?

This is what the Skip the Screen campaign stands for.

It is time to pause the digital noise that constantly surrounds our lives and minds. To set distractions aside. To reconnect with the present moment and with what is right in front of us. We invite cultural spaces, educators, and visitors to rethink how technology shows up in moments meant for reflection, learning, and wonder.

Let’s allow ourselves to be surprised again by the magic of culture and history.
