Imagine entering a world of tales, mythical creatures and magic, where every corner tells a story and if you pay extra attention, you will discover small hidden spaces revealing new tiny interactive details. This is exactly what you get to experience when you step into the Museum of Lost Tales in Zagreb, Croatia, a place that celebrates and spotlights the forgotten Croatian legends.

Bringing Croatian Folklore to Life

The design of this unique museum immerses you in an mystique atmosphere, transporting you instantly to the very heart of its stories. The creative mind behind this cultural treasure is the renowned multimedia artist Zdenko Bašić, who spent twenty years collecting and illustrating fascinating tales before bringing them together in the museum.

As visitors enter the museum, they will find a first layer composed of legends and timeless stories passed down through generations. The second layer it’s more hidden and interactive, where they encourage visitors to engage directly with the exhibits. Zdenko’s vision was to share Croatia’s mythology and neglected folk traditions not only to preserve cultural heritage but also to spark curiosity and imagination in every visitor.

A New Museum with Multiple Stories to Tell

As a new institution, the museum had no prior experience with audio guides. They wanted to go beyond written text and provide a way for people to immerse themselves in folklore at their own pace. Their initial idea was to create a custom app or progressive web app but realized that a physical audio guide would be a better option. They needed a solution that was reliable, easy to set up, simple to update, and able to provide valuable insights into visitor behavior.

And for them the Podcatcher Pro   just ticked all the boxes. Six months after opening, they introduced our audio guide system, and up to this date the results have been outstanding. The rental revenue covers the costs, and the guides have become an essential part of the visitor experience.

Discovering at Their Own Pace

The richness of the Museum of Lost Tales lies in its many stories and details. The audio guides allow visitors to take their time exploring while listening, without needing to read everything, which translates into a more immersive and enjoyable experience. The team has noticed that guests ask more questions, take photos, and children are free to explore at their own pace, making this a more engaging visit for everyone.

Praised for its User-Friendly Experience

The Museum of Lost Tales offers audio guides in Croatian, English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Ukrainian, and Greek, making the experience accessible both for locals and for international visitors who want to learn more about Croatian folklore. The visitor response has been extremely positive. Most guests rent the audio guide and engage deeply with the stories, and particularly parents, who appreciate seeing their children focused and entertained while exploring. The museum highlights the simplicity of the Podcatcher Pro as one of its greatest advantages. Visitors can select the stories they want to hear without any technical knowledge, which makes the experience enjoyable for both younger and older audiences.

Shaping Tours with Data

The Podcatcher Pro tour editor platform has also become an important ally for the museum team. The analytics provide them with insights into which stories are most popular, allowing staff to improve tours and plan new content.

With 145 beacons in use, the museum accepted the challenge and created four and a half hours of audio. When we asked if managing so much content was tricky, the team replied:

  • “Not at all. The dashboard makes it easy to add, edit, and track content.”

The Museum of Lost Tales is a great example of how technology can strengthen the storytelling and personality of a cultural space. The museum embraced content creation and used the simplicity of the software to bring countless stories to life.

We are proud to see our customers thrive by increasing visitor engagement, generating revenue, and gaining recognition for their creativity and dedication.
